July 2005 in Montréal

Montréal, July 6, 2005

The Jazz Festival is currently in full swing, as well as the Fantasia Film Festival which has just started. Nuits d'Afrique is about to start with the absolutely real jazz, blues and funk music directly from Africa, the Carribean, etc.

Immediately thereafter, the Just For Laughs Festival will also offer the Eat-My-Twisted-Shorts and other COMEDIA movies featuring The Aristocrats, with lots of music, stand-up comics and hilarious Belgian street performers as well as a brand new free access COMIC BOOK Festival along the way.

Lots of other activities and shows in other places too. MSO musicians are sadly still on strike but other orchestras and ensembles are performing live in parks and various venues. Strauss and OM concerts are listed in the Classical Music Calendar. Summer countryside concerts and festivals at Lanaudière and Domaine Forget are there too.

Museum exhibitions are still a tough choice with air conditioning. But even in very hot weather it's always nice to take time at the Botanical Garden or experience Life's a Beach at Jean-Drapeau Park. Get a good new or new-to-you book first at the Old Paris Style Bouquinistes du Saint Laurent.
